Yannick Varlet studied organ and harpsichord in France with Dominique Ferran, Noëlle Spieth, Pierre Hantaï and Willem Jansen. He also received lessons from Pierre Perdigon, Jean-Charles Ablitzer, Freddy Eichelberger, Ewald Kooiman and Michael Radulescu.
In Italy he studied with Maestro Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini on various historic organs in Rome, Bologna and Piacenza. In 2003 he was awarded the second prize at the International Organ Competition of the city of Borca di Cadore in Veneto.
Yannick Varlet has a busy concert schedule both as a soloist and in various chamber music ensembles, including La Simphonie du Marais, the Ensemble Européen William Byrd, Il Gardellino, Da Pacem and the Orchestre de Bretagne, with which he has performed at several major music festivals in France, as well as all over Europe.
He regularly plays with the flutist Hugo Reyne and has participated in the recording of about thirty different CDs.
His musical eclecticism has often led him to improvise on various different keyboards, in collaboration with singers and instrumentalists specializing in various diverse genres.
