Cipriana SMARANDESCU

After graduating in harpsichord under the guidance of Patrizia Marisaldi (Vicenza) and Ogneanca Lefterescu (Bucharest), as a disciple of the school of harpsichord of Ton Koopman, Cipriana Smarandescu studied with Andreas Staier, Patrick Ayrton, Pierre Hantai. She won several competitions including Milan (Umanitaria), Pesaro (Gianni Gambi) and was awarded a diploma for participation in international competitions in Leipzig (J.S. Bach) and Bruges.

Her performing career included concert in Romania, Italy, Spain, France, Austria, Belgium, as well as recordings for the Romanian Radio and Television Channels, Vatican Radio, RAI-Radio 3, Sarx Records, Aliusmodum Records (in 2009 the CD “Inventions, Symphonies and Six Small Preludes by Johann Sebastian Bach” appeared for this label).

Cipriana Smarandescu is one of the founding members of Aliusmodum baroque ensemble with which she carries out an important concert activity both as a soloist and as a continuist.

Graduated in musicology with a thesis on Domenico Scarlatti‘s harpsichord sonatas, among her interests there were music research and journalism. For many years she teaches in Rome and in master classes in Anguillara, Saracinesco, Orte and Rome.
