With his accordion on his shoulder, Pietro Roffi has traveled the world. From Valmontone, small town near Rome, where he grew up and lives, he arrived in Beijing, London, Buenos Aires, Bucharest, Melbourne and many other cities. Born in 1992, he began playing the accordion at the age of six and graduated with full marks and honourable mention at the Conservatory “S. Cecilia” in Rome under the guidance of the Professor Massimiliano Pitocco. During his musical training he also had the opportunity to study with some of the most authoritative masters of his instrument, such as O. Murray (UK), Y. Shishkin (Russia), M. Rantanen (Finland), S. Hussong (Germany), C. X. Qing (China), I. Alberdi (Spain), A. Melichar (Austria).
He has won over fifteen national and international competitions in the modern genre, including the third prize at the Accordion World Trophy (Spain, Vigo, 2010) and the first prize at the International Competition of Castefidardo (Italy, 2010).
He has performed in Italy, England, China, Australia, Malta, Romania, Croatia, Spain, Argentina, Germany, Lithuania (where he debuted with Bach’s Goldberg Variations), giving over a hundred concerts, as a soloist and with symphony orchestras, in renowned concert halls such as “Die Glocke” in Bremen or “Romanian Athenaeum” in Bucharest. Among the upcoming concert performances, the return to Australia, the debut in New Zealand and then in South Africa where he will also play with the Johannesburg Festival Orchestra.
In 2017 he met the Oscar winner Dario Marianelli of whom he played the Concert Suite from the music for the movie Anna Karenina as a soloist with the Roma Tre Orchestra at the Teatro Palladium in Rome and at the Teatro Verdi in Pordenone. Following this meeting, Dario Marianelli called him to record his new soundtrack.
Pietro Roffi is invited every year to the judging commissions of important national and international accordion competitions (such as “Premio Internazionale Città di Castelfidardo”).
